The Role.
GMC Utilities Group is seeking an experienced and reliable JCB Driver/Plant Operator to join our team on utility and infrastructure projects across Cork.
The successful candidate will operate JCB and other plant machinery safely and efficiently, supporting site operations and ensuring projects are completed to a high standard and within programme
.
Key Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate JCB excavators, diggers and other associated plant machinery.
- Carry out excavation, trenching, backfilling, grading and material handling duties as required.
- Assist groundworkers and other site personnel with daily construction and utility works.
- Complete daily plant checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Operate machinery in accordance with company procedures, site rules and health & safety requirements.
- Work efficiently as part of a site team while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Ensure machinery is kept clean, secure and in good working condition.
- Follow instructions from site supervisors and management.
- Adhere to all relevant health & safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Carry out other reasonable duties associated with the role.
The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies:
- Previous experience operating a JCB
- Hold valid plant operating certification/tickets.
- Previous experience working on utility, civil engineering or construction projects.
- Good understanding of site health & safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious approach to work.
- Good communication skills.
- Full driving licence is desirable.
