Gender Pay Gap Report – GMC Utilities Group

At GMC Utilities Group, we are committed to building a workplace where equality, inclusion, and transparency are more than values - they are central to how we operate every day. As part of our ongoing commitment to these principles, we are pleased to publish our latest Gender Pay Gap Report.

Why This Matters

The Gender Pay Gap Report is an important tool to help us understand the difference between the average earnings of men and women across our organisation. It reflects broader patterns in gender representation across various roles, departments, and seniority levels—not unequal pay for equal work, which is strictly prohibited at GMC

Our Commitment to Progress

While the construction and utilities sectors have historically been male-dominated, we are taking proactive steps to drive change. These include:

  • Increasing female representation across technical and leadership roles
  • Supporting inclusive recruitment practices
  • Promoting flexible working and family-friendly policies
  • Providing career development opportunities equally across all genders
  • Offering formal mentoring and structured CPD for all staff

What We’re Doing

Our long-term goal is to close the gender pay gap by addressing underlying causes such as underrepresentation, particularly in higher-paid field and leadership roles.

Initiatives underway include:

  • STEM outreach to encourage more young women into engineering and utilities
  • Internal promotion pathways to support female advancement
  • Mentorship programmes to build confidence and capability
  • Inclusive culture initiatives aligned with our core values

Looking Ahead

We recognise that meaningful progress takes time and sustained action. Publishing our Gender Pay Gap Report reflects our commitment to transparency, and we will continue to track, report, and take action every year.

At GMC Utilities Group, we are proud to be part of a sector undergoing positive change - and even prouder to be helping lead that change.
