Scheduled to begin in mid-June, and delivered in two phases, the project will see a 41km gas Feeder Main pipeline laid from Barrigone, Co Limerick to Listowel town. The route travels via Ballyhahill, Co Limerick and Moyvane, Co Kerry, with local gas distribution networks being constructed in each of these locations.

The investment in this project by Gas Networks Ireland will soon allow domestic and commercial customers to switch to natural gas. Natural gas offers an advantage over other fuel sources in terms of environmental impact and cost.

Fran McFadden, Commercial Sales Manager at Gas Networks Ireland, said “We are delighted to be extending the natural gas network and progressing into Listowel town. Initial feedback from residents and businesses in the town is showing that there will be a strong demand for Natural Gas.? Businesses making the switch can look forward to fuel cost savings of anywhere between 30% and 60% on their current fuel bills, together with reduced carbon emissions, no storage requirement and a constant, reliable supply of natural gas”
