Howth Water Main Replacement work commences

Works have commenced today on the water main replacement in Howth, County Dublin.

The works will involve the decommissioning and replacement of old and damaged cast iron water mains along Abbey Street, Kilrock Road and Balscadden Road most of which is in place since the mid 1900’s.

The existing problematic pipes will be replaced with new modern high density polyethylene (plastic) pipes. The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the street to customers’ property boundaries connecting it to the customers’ water supply. Where there is lead on the public side of the service connection this will be removed as part of the improvement works.

Residents in the areas can phone Irish Water on Callsave 1850 278 278 if they have any questions about the works.
